Police Arrest Operator Of Baby Factory In Lagos

A 60-year-old woman has been arrested in the Isolo area of Lagos state for allegedly operating a baby factory.

Augustina Onyenwe was arrested on July 1 at Lawson Road, Isolo, where she reportedly operated a baby factory, according to Lagos Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu, who made the announcement during a parade of suspects at the Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja on Wednesday July 14.

Following an arrest based on a tip, two pregnant ladies were reportedly rescued.
Mrs Onyenwe is accused of keeping young pregnant women in the area till they deliver.

Odumosu said; 

“A police team acted on the information, raced to the address, and rescued two heavily pregnant girls. The suspect has made a confessional statement to that effect.

“The victims, ladies of ages 32 and 20 respectively, have been kept in protective custody while the suspect will be charged to court as soon as possible.”

In other news, due to the Delta variant of the novel Coronavirus recently found in Nigeria, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has advised Nigerians not to travel home for the 2021 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations next week.

Dr Yahya Disu, the NCDC’s Head of Risk Communications Division, issued the warning today on Channels TV.

According to Disu, the COVID-19 pandemic’s second wave began in Nigeria when individuals traveled for Christmas last December. As a result, he asked Nigerians to avoid unnecessary travel during the upcoming Sallah celebrations. READ HERE
