New Legon Cities coach Maxwell Konadu vows they will surely escape relegation
Legon Cities are still not out of the woods yet as they could slip into relegation on the final day of the Ghana Premier League if they fail to beat Techiman Eleven Wonders in their last game.
The club moved onto their third coach this season after dispensing off with the services of veteran trainer Bashir Hayford and replacing him with former Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu.
He played his first league game since joining Legon Cities a club he managed in the past when they were known and called Wa All Stars under former GFA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi.
After their 2-0 loss to Elmina Sharks on Sunday, Maxwell Konadu is still optimistic that his side can avoid the drop on the last day.
Legon Cities held their own against Elmina Sharks as the first half ended in a goalless draw but the home side turned the screw as goals from Benjamin Boateng and a puskas goal contender from James Bissue gave them a deserving 2-0 victory.
Speaking in a post-match presser, Maxwell Konadu was disappointed as to how his side let in two goals after staying tight for over 70 minutes.
“It was a good game. We controlled the game in the early stages of the first half.”
“It’s unfortunate we couldn’t take our chances. We will do everything to win the last game and be safe. We will escape relegation.”
“We haven’t changed a lot, we decided to continue the work being done. It’s unfortunate things are not going how i wanted it but we will surely escape relegation.”
Legon Cities are currently lying 14th on the Ghana Premier League log with 39 points and will need all three points when they face Eleven Wonders at home to guarantee their Premier League survival.
