Former Nigerian presidential aide, Reno Omokri has advised his fans on letting out their emotions play out before people to gain their pity.
According to Reno, shedding your tears before fellow men does not bring respect but only self-pity that does not augur well for the reputation of the individual. Taking to his Instagram page, he made his submission.
He captioned the post as: As a man, if you must cry, cry in the rain. No man gains respect by crying in front of people, except you are at a funeral or crying over loss of life. Men need respect, not pity. If you want to cry, lock yourself in your closet and cry to God. He is the only One you won’t be vulnerable with. A man crying over the death of loved ones is honourable, admirable and commands respect. But if you cry because a girl left you, or your business fails, OR YOU LOSE AN ELECTION, you project weakness. It is not that men should not cry. They can. However, they should cry privately to God. Yes, Christ wept. But where was He when He wept? He was at Lazarus’s funeral! Even at Calvary, Christ did not shed tears as He was being killed. The only other time you see Christ close to tears, was at the Garden of Gethsemane. And Scripture tells us that “He went a little further”-Matthew 26:39. He put some distance between Himself and His disciples, so He could cry out to His Father in private
