Annoh-Dompreh commends Defense Minister for his swift response on military brutality in Wa
The Majority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh has commended the Minister of Defense, Dominic Nitiwul and the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces for their swift response to investigate the military brutality in Wa.
Making his submission on the floor of Parliament on Thursday, July 8, 2021, Mr. Annoh-Dompreh said he finds the cause of the incident highly regrettable given that, the Ghana Armed forces is a highly reputable institution that has won accolades of discipline across the world.
According to him, such an enviable reputation that builds confidence in a civilian-military relationship cannot be tainted with disdain by the use of brute force to harass innocent citizens.
He noted the implication of the action and its psychological effect on the affected persons and expressed solidarity with the chiefs and people of Wa.
He also called on the leadership of the Armed Forces and its auxiliary bodies to do more to restore the trust and confidence breached by this level of misconduct and avoid future recurrence.
Concluding his submission, he admonished citizens to refrain from collateral attack and abuse of the military in such isolated cases and continue to live in harmony with them.
